Jupiter, the Roman god of thunder and the king of the gods,
is the embodiment of Roman notions of supreme power and prestige,
symbolizing our commitment to be the undisputed leader in wind instruments.
Overseen by world-class consultants and designed by a veteran R&D team,
Jupiter instruments are engineered to meet the demands of students and advanced players alike.
Over two thousand manufacturing steps go into the creation of each instrument,
resulting in a work of art, sure to provide inspiration to the musician who plays it.
With uncompromised quality control, every part of a Jupiter instrument is meticulous engineered
and rigorous inspected to meet the most demanding needs from the users.

Brand history

1956
  • K.H.S. built its first factory in Luzhou, Taipei. This factory produced harmonicas under the Swallow and Butterfly brands.

1957
  • In 1957, K.H.S. began to manufacture wind instruments under the Swallow brand. The first mass produced wind instruments were trumpets and trombones.

1977
  • K.H.S. started to mass produce flutes and saxophones.

1980
  • Swallow was renamed Jupiter. K.H.S became well-known internationally and “Made in Taiwan” then became synonymous with high quality and durability.

1981
  • In response to the Taiwanese government’s “Musical instruments for every school” policy, K.H.S. provided Jupiter musical instruments to school bands and financed teacher training programs to enhance music teacher quality in Taiwan.

  • In addition, Jupiter established the first high school marching band and first jazz band in Taiwan.

1982
  • K.H.S. began to design and make alto horn, baritone horn and euphonium.

1983
  • K.H.S. began to design and make clarinet and flugelhorn.

1984
  • K.H.S. began to design and produce sousaphones.

  • Jupiter introduced the mini sousaphone 394, becoming the first to use a carbon fiber composite body and a yellow brass bell. This new model was not only lighter than a standard sousaphone, but also was easier to play. As a consequence, other manufactures soon adopted this design approach in their new products.

1985
  • K.H.S. began to design and produce French horn.

  • JUPITER Band Instrument, Inc., was established in Austin, Texas, U.S.A.

1986
  • Begin to make Bb Tuba.

  • From brass instruments to woodwind instruments, the product lines became gradually matured and completed.

1987
  • Instrument manufacturing is movied from Taipei, Luzhou to an expanded and improved factory in Chungli, closer to central Taiwan.

1995
  • K.H.S. established a new manufacturing base in Tianjin, China.

2000
  • To achieve world-class product quality, we established a R&D center in Taiwan aimed at conducting a variety of product researches and experiments on different musical instruments.

2003
  • In 2003, the JUPITER Tour Bus traveled across Germany, Belgium and Austria and served as a field trip on wheels for grade school students to increase their exposure to different musical instruments.

  • JUPITER collaborated with the U.K.’s Ministry of Education by sponsoring its music education program known as the Sound Star Project. This music program not only increased students’ interests in music, but also strengthened Jupiter’s brand presence in the UK.

2004
  • The factory in Taiwan received ISO 9001 certification, becoming Taiwan’s first musical instrument company to achieve this recognition.

  • Jupiter’s 308 trumpets and 565 saxophones received UK’s MIA Music Awards “Best Instrument”.

2006
  • Patrick Sheridan became a Music Consultant at Jupiter.

2007
  • Jupiter received Music Inc. Magazine’s “Supplier Excellence Award 2007” and Customer Service: Mples

  • Jupiter received MMR Dealer’s Choice Awards, USA “Band Instrument Line of the Year”

2008
  • Jupiter received Music Inc. Magazine's “Supplier Excellence Award. 2008.”

  • Jupiter received MMR Dealer’s Choice Awards in USA “Band & Orchestral Instrument Line of the Year.”

  • Jupiter received “Companies to Watch: Jupiter, NAMM’S Best in Show Awards 2008

2009
  • JUPITER’s endorsed Boston Brass participated in the Texas Bandmasters Association 62nd Annual Convention/Clinic.

  • Specifically designed and tailored for the preschool children, Jupiter’s Mini Trombone 314 and Pocket Trumpet 416 were introduced to the market.

2010
  • Jupiter received Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan’s” Taiwan’s Best Brand Award 2010”.

2011
  • JUPITER Band Instrument, Inc relocated to Nashville and merged with MAPEX USA Inc. The new merged company’s name was K.H.S. America, Inc.

  • JUPITER's endorsed Boston Brass received an appreciation award of “In Appreciation for Your Contributions to The Annual Texas Bandmasters Association Convention” from Texas Bandmasters Association.

2013
  • The Waveline 509 and 510 models were released (they are now known as 700W series). Tailored for young children, this design was ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in a child’s hand and it mineralized the risk for spinal deformity commonly occurred among young flute players.

  • Established Jupiter Youth Jazz Band in Taiwan.

  • Jupiter WaveLine (formerly known as D-Loop) flute won Germany’s prestigious design prize, the Red Dot Design Award in 2013

2015
  • Jupiter received Music Inc. Magazine’s “Supplier Excellence Award 2015”

  • JUPITER 700 series received Canadian MIA (Music Industries Association) Award.

  • Jupiter received MMR Dealer’s Choice Awards, USA “Band & Orchestral Instrument Line of the Year”

  • Jupiter received Musical Merchandise Review (MMR)’s“Special Appreciation Award-In commemoration of 35 years of service to the music industry.

  • Jupiter received WGI Sport of the Arts’ “In sincere appreciation of your support of WGI Sport of the Arts”

  • Jupiter won Orange County Independent Winds Silver Medal, Winds World Class, 2015 WGI World Championships.

2016
  • Jupiter won Music Inc. Magazine’s “Supplier Excellence Award. 2016”

  • Jupiter received WGI Sport of the Arts’ appreciation award, “in sincere appreciation of your support of WGI Sport of the Arts”

  • Jupiter won Orange County Independent Winds Bronze Medal, Winds World Class, 2016 WGI World Championships.

2017
  • Jupiter won Music Inc. Magazine’s “Supplier Excellence Award 2017”

2018
  • Jupiter’s factory in Taiwan adopted full automation in its New Plating Facility, ensuring superior product quality.

2019
  • Since 2019, all Jupiter trumpets have been made with stress-free welding method. Also, from design to manufacturing, each production step is meticulously measured to ensure every Jupiter trumpet’s quality is unmatched.

  • Jupiter received WGI Sport of the Arts’ appreciation award: “in sincere appreciation of your support of WGI Sport of the Arts.”

2020
  • Jupiter’s 40th Anniversary.
